A message to those who have recently lost a loved one, whether through physical loss or the end of a relationship:

In yoga, death is seen not as an end but as a transition, with the soul journeying beyond the physical body. This view encourages us to embrace death without fear, recognizing it as a natural part of life’s cycle.

Savasana, or known as “corpse pose,” symbolizes this release, teaching us to let go and embrace stillness, much like in death. Through this practice, yoga invites us to live fully, approaching both life and death with mindfulness, compassion, and inner awareness.

Are there times when you feel like a kid or wish you could be one again? The kid inside all of us is the part that remains curious, playful, and free-spirited despite the years we’ve lived. Surrender in yoga is an act of deep faith in the present moment and in oneself—a path to finding peace within and unity with the world around us.

Through yoga, we learn to release the tension we hold in our bodies and minds, surrendering to the process of each pose, each breath. Rather than forcing or pushing, we soften into postures, trusting our body’s ability to guide us. Surrender is not weakness; it is a conscious choice to stop resisting and embrace what is.

This act of surrender extends beyond the physical practice. On the mat, “we are invited to release the need for perfection, to surrender the ego, and to let go of the outcome”. Off the mat, yoga teaches us to surrender to life’s uncertainties with grace, trusting that everything is unfolding as it should.

Just as this ship once navigated turbulent waters, we too encounter challenges and uncertainties in life.

In yoga, we learn to embrace these obstacles with grace, accepting both the storms and moments of surrender. The ships lying beneath the calm waters of Tobermory now rest in stillness, preserved by the very lake that once posed danger, much like how yoga teaches us to find peace within ourselves after life’s struggles.

In both the shipwrecks and yoga, there is beauty in stillness, in being present, and in the natural flow of life, accepting that sometimes, what is lost transforms into something new—an opportunity to explore, reflect, and grow.

Yoga is More Than Just Asana!

Yoga is rooted in an eightfold path, known as Ashtanga Yoga, which includes:
